Conference

Today, the forest fire season is longer than it was a decade ago and incidents of flooding and storms have increased over the same time period. How we mitigate, prepare, respond and recover is much different than is has been and "Embracing the Future Together", the Vancouver Island Emergency Preparedness Conference (VIEPC) 2021 focused on what changed, what to expect and how we need to manage our work as emergency management professionals and volunteers, as well as COVID-19.

Over three days, May 13-15, 2021, through Zoom, we provided interesting and interactive breakout sessions, hands-on workshops, demonstrations, trade shows in our exhibitor hall and networking opportunities.  Participants learned the latest developments in emergency management best practices and discover lessons learned “in our back yard” and beyond.

Who Previously Attended?

The conference brought together:

  • Dedicated emergency preparedness and response volunteers and staff;

  • Community groups and non-government organizations providing emergency response services;

  • Individuals, neighbourhood groups and agencies interested in learning about emergency management; and
